Harmony Haven Member of Vigo County Animal Coalition

Responding to decades of ongoing animal welfare and overpopulation issues, several existing animal advocacy/welfare organizations, including Harmony Haven, met in 2007 and formed the Vigo County Animal Coalition (VCAC) to improve services. The Coalition (www.vigoanimals.org) is an umbrella organization formed to promote the well-being of animals in Vigo County, Indiana.

Harmony Haven Receives Medical Grant from Maddie's Fund

Maddie's Fund®, the Pet Rescue Foundation (www.maddiesfund.org) has recognized the Vigo County Animal Coalition's efforts with a $10,000 grant, awarded in September 2008, which was distributed among several member organizations.

Maddie's Fund, established by Dave Duffield, founder of PeopleSoft and Workday, and his wife, Cheryl, in memory of their beloved Miniature Schnauzer, Maddie, is a family foundation established in 1999 to help fund the creation of a no-kill nation. The foundation helps create programs that guarantee loving homes for all healthy shelter dogs and cats throughout the country.

Harmony Haven was one of the recipients of monies to be used for medical expenses. We are most grateful to Maddie's Fund for their generosity and for their philosophy of no-kill shelters throughout the nation. With the high cost and continued need for medical services, the funds are particularly appreciated. Our sincere thanks to Maddie's Fund.
